Hi I'm Kwartemaa!  Welcome to Enviropedia!!!

This is a place where I plan to share my thoughts, ideas, concerns, nature photos, and information about the environment. Topics like Sustainability, Climate Change and its effects, Carbon Footprint, The 3 R's — Reduce, Reuse & Recycle, Fast Fashion, and many others would be discussed.

About a year ago, I was so excited about changing schools and I willing participated in a fun summer learning program at my then new school (I think I can say 'my school' now). I got to learn about Tai Chi and Self Care. You're probably thinking 'WhaT dOeS thIs GoT tO Do wITh aNyThInG?' (insert SpongeBob meme here).
Being able to learn about self-awareness and allowing myself to feel the changes within my body as I followed the movement created a space where I began to notice changes in the environment around me. This heightened especially when I took 2 environmental science semester courses taught by an amazing teacher.  I fell in love with everything that has to do with the global environment and our moving direction as a continent through her . From there I begun to think how can I integrate this with business because that's what I plan to study in College/University but now I want to do both.

It is true what they say about when the teacher has so much passion in what he/she/they/it is teaching, it’s going to reflect in their students. With the passion she had for this subject, we were able to build a team and win a national competition and we plan to compete in much rigorous one soon. One day, I'll reveal her to you guys and share her story. I got a lot of interesting things coming your way!

Sustainability? What's that?

Sustainability implies addressing our own necessities without compromising the capacity of future generations to meet their own requirements. Along with natural resources, we need social and economic resources. Sustainability isn't simply environmentalism.   There are 3 pillars of sustainability : Environmental - All of earth’s ecological systems are kept in equilibrium while natural resources within them are used by people at a rate where they can renew themselves.  Social - Widespread basic freedoms and fundamental necessities are feasible by all individuals, who have access to enough resources altogether to keep their families and networks sound and secure. Economic - Communities across the globe can maintain their independence and have access to the resources that they require, financial and other, to meet their needs.  When people hear sustainability, they are quick to associate it with fast fashion, but it is that and more. Personally, when I hear sustainability, I...
